    Are you ready for an exhilarating adventure? This tour is made for you! It includes visits to classic Inkan and Pre-Inkan sites of Cusco, the Sacred Valley of Urubamba, Pisac and Machu Picchu and areas surrounding these locations. Exploring these areas provides a profound insight to ancient traditions, architecture and culture. This tour package includes an invigorating 7 night, 8 day supported trek from Pitumarca to Tinqui, hiking across the breath-taking Peruvian Andes. It is a trip of a lifetime!

  • DAY 1

    Fly from Home to Lima, on the Peruvian coast. Sea level.

    DAY 2

    Fly to Cusco. Travel by private van to Ollantaytambo, built on an original Inka city in the Sacred Valley of the Urubamba, where we will spend our first nights and begin our acclimatization. Overnight in Ollantaytambo at Hotel El Sol.

    DAY 3

    Visit Inka ruins in and all around Ollantaytambo, including agricultural storage and Inka bridge. Overnight in Ollantaytambo at Hotel El Sol.

    Day 4

    Visit Salineras, family owned salt flats used since pre Inka times. Visit Maras Moray, Pre-Inkan and Inkan ceremonial site and agricultural research on crop rotations and altitude. Buffet lunch at Tanupa, traditional Peruvian food, alongside the Urubamba river. Visit Seminario’s ceramic workshop in Urubamba. Travel by private van back Cusco. Overnight in Cusco hotel.

    Day 5

    Cusco city tour including Plaza de Armas, Cathedral and Korikancha; balance of the day free. Overnight in Cusco hotel.

    Day 6

    Visit Inka ruins of Sacsayhuaman, Tambomachay, and Quenco. Picnic lunch included. Overnight in Cusco hotel.

    Day 7

    Visit with local weavers in Chinchero, eat traditional Peruvian food and visit local. Explore behind the ruins on an old Inka road. Overnight in Cusco hotel.

    Day 8

    Visit animal sanctuary, camelid zoo and the Pisac Inka ruins which are located high above the Urubamba River and the town and market of Pisac. Lunch at Ulrickes restaurant. Drive Pisac to Ollanta. Train to Aguas Calientes. Overnight in Aguas Calientes hotel.

    Day 9

    Visit archaeological site of Machu Picchu with early tour, climb of Huayna Picchu, Huchoy Picchu, and /or visit the Temple of the Moon if desired. Overnight in Aguas Calientes hotel.

    Day 10

    Train to Ollanta and travel by private van back to Cusco. Free afternoon. We will have a briefing about the upcoming trek – what to pack and what to expect (in detail!). Those preferring to ride may rent private horses/mules. Overnight in Cusco hotel.

    Day 11

    Free day. Preparation for trek. Overnight in Cusco hotel.

    Day 12-19

    We join our guides, cooks, wranglers, mules, and ambulance riding horse (just in case!) for a fully supported trek. From near Pitumarca at 13,500 feet to Tinqui passing by stunning 16,000 foot high Lago Sabinacoccha. 7 nights (8 days walking). Passing through Mormorani Pass and Condor Tucco at our high point of 17,200 feet and visiting Upis (hotsprings!). We are very close to Mt. Ausangate and many other high peaks and glaciers. This trip includes a part of the standard Ausangate trek, in the clockwise direction to Tinqui.

    Day 19

    continued: After the day’s hike into Tinqui, travel by van back to Cusco. Overnight in Cusco hotel.

    Day 20

    Visit to Tipon, ruins near Cusco with beautiful Inka ruins and water channels. Visit Oropesa (where much of the area’s bread is made). Or, free day – your choice.

    Day 21

    Transportation to Cusco Airport for flights to Lima.

    Day 22

    Travel Lima to Home.
