This 22-day tour is filled with adventure and exhilarating experiences! Much time is spent in Cusco and the Sacred Valley of Urubamba, as well as surrounding areas. Throughout the tour, you will visit a multitude of Inkan ruins and Pre-Inkan sites, obtaining a profound insight to their culture, architecture and history. In addition, you will spend time visiting museums, local markets and indigenous villages. One main highlight of this tour package includes a 5-6 night supported trek to the ancient city of Machu Picchu, which is an absolutely incredible adventure.

Fly to Cusco. Travel by private van to Ollantaytambo, built on an original Inka city in the Sacred Valley of the Urubamba, where we will spend our first nights and begin our acclimatization. Overnight at Hotel El Sol in Ollantaytambo.
Visit Inka ruins, agricultural storage and Inka bridge in Ollantaytambo. Overnight at Hotel El Sol in Ollantaytambo.
Visit Salineras, family owned salt flats used since Pre-Inkan times; Visit Maras Moray, Pre-Inkan and Inkan ceremonial site and agricultural research on crop rotations and altitude; eat at Tanupa, traditional Peruvian food, buffet style, alongside the Urubamba river, visit Pablo Seminario’s ceramic workshop in Urubamba. Overnight at Hotel El Sol in Ollantaytambo.
Travel by private van to Chinchero. Visit local weavers in Chinchero and visit ruins. Explore behind ruins on old Inca road. Return by private van to Cusco. Overnight in Cusco.
Visit Inca ruins of Sacsayhuaman Tambomachay, and Quenco. Overnight in Cusco.
Visit animal sanctuary, camelid zoo, and Pisac – Inka ruins which are located high above the Urubamba River, includes visit of town and market of Pisac. Lunch included at Ulriches restaurant. Overnight in Cusco.
Free days in Cusco. We can day hike, visit ruins if desired, see local markets, and museums including the Textile Museum, Museum of Religious Art, Pre Columbian Museum… engage in shopping, sightseeing, people watching…Hiking day trips offered by leader. Day 8 we will have a briefing about the trek to Machu PIcchu – what to pack and what to expect (in detail!). Those preferring to ride may have private horses for rent. Overnight in Cusco.
We join our guides, cooks, wranglers, mules, and riding horse (just in case!) for a fully supported trek which will be appropriate to the hiking level and desires of the group. We will already be acclimatized for this experience. The trek will end in the vicinity of Machu Picchu, and we will either take the train into Aguas Calientes or walk the track path from the hydroelectric plant near Santa Teresa. Last night on trek followed by night in Hotel in Aguas Calientes.
Visit archaeological site of Machu Picchu with early morning tour and climbs of Huayna Picchu, Huchoy Picchu, and /or visit the Temple of the Moon, Inka bridge, Sungate, if desired. Overnight in Aguas Calientes Hotel.
Early morning train to Ollanta and travel by private van to Cusco with the balance of the day free. Overnight in Cusco.
Visit to Tipon, ruins near Cusco with beautiful water channels Visit to Oropesa (where much of the area’s bread is made). Overnight in Cusco.
Last days in Cusco and free days. Hiking day trips offered by leader. Overnight in Cusco Hotel.
