joelJoel Antony Huaman Aimara

Joel was born in the community of Apurimac’s Curahuasi Department, which is situated 3.5 hours outside of Cusco. He comes from a humble family, with many customs and traditions that have been passed down from many generations, as his grandparents were Altomisayoc (shamans) and they inculcated the Andean religion and respect for Mother Earth (Pachamama). Since early childhood, Joel has wanted to share his culture and customs with others, and it is for this reason he decided to study tourism. He graduated as a Guia Profesional in Tourism and has been working as a guide for the past 5 years in Cusco and around Peru. He is a specialist in cultural tourism, adventure and mysticism, and enjoys to explore the Andes following the paths of the Incas, trekking areas such as Salkantay, Huchuyqosqo, amoung others. Joel has great admiration for the Incas who passed down a vast amount of wisdom and rich traditions, and as such he feels very proud of his land and of his people. His dream is to help the people of the high Andes, especially to assist the children in obtaining an education.
