Sacsayhuaman

Sacsayhuaman is an Incan site located on the northern outskirts of the city of Cusco. The city was laid out in the form of a puma. The main plaza looked similar to the belly of the puma, the Tullumayo river is its spine, and the hills form its head. Limestones of different sizes are used to build parallel walls in different levels. The zig-zag pattern of the wall represents the teeth of the puma’s head.

Inca Pisac

Pisac, meaning “partridge” is a word of the Quechua origin. It’s in the Incan tradition to build cities that resemble birds and animals, such as Pisac. The city is partridge shaped. The city consists of military citadel, religious temples, and local homes. It overlooks the Sacred Valley that’s located between the Salkantay Mountain. The city guards the southern entrance to the Sacred Valley.
